NMC Conversations (Podcast): Now with Transcripts
We are ramping up production and a schedule for more episodes of our NMC Conversations, a podcast series started a few months ago to highlight NMC projects and bringing in guests from our membership and community. We were really inspired by the ETS Podcasts published by Cole Camplese and colleagues at Penn State University. Their style is lively and informative, and we can only hope to emulate it.
NMC Conversations also show up in our NMC Podcast aggregator, in our NMC podcasts collection, or just as a tagged set of content (see how this new web site works?!) Our first three episodes were some experiments in recording techniques (as the hosts are in 3 different states) and development of our format:
- NMC Conversations #1: Welcome to the Show where Larry, Rachel, and Alan describe our plans for NMC Conversations.
- NMC Conversations #2: Virtual Worlds (and Beyond) - we talk about what is happening in virtual worlds outside of Second Life.
- NMC Conversations #3: A Peek at the 2007 NMC Summer Conference - In a different mode where we all were in the same room, we recorded a conversation with 2007 NMC Summer Conference host Darrlel Bailey, shares the experience of bringing the conference to his campus and some insights into IUPUI
What is new is that we are now including full transcripts with these podcasts (#1 and #2 are done, #3 is in the works. Finally, we have sessions set up to be published soon featuring conversations with K12 teachers Vicki Davis and Julie Lindsay who coordinated an international project based on the 2007 Horizon Report, Bryan Alexander (NITLE) on New Scholarship, and one with Phil Long (MIT), NMC's new Board chair. And we are open to ideas for future conversations!
